Parenting Implementation Project (PIP)
The aim of the Parenting Implementation Project (PIP) is to support local authorities (LAs) to improve the design, commissioning and delivery of parenting support and services.
Working initially in 18 local authorities over an 18 month period, PIP consultants and LA representatives are identifying and testing effective practice in parent support services and developing innovative approaches to delivery. Work is grouped into 5 themes relating to Commissioning and 5 relating to Implementation, all focused around improving outcomes for parents, children and young people.
A key objective is to create a Resource Kit for all local authorities, setting out techniques and ideas for delivering effective evidence-based practices, and this is currently being designed by the 18 LAs taking part in the PIP.
To help to facilitate this process, we have designed the following 'offers and requests' service for the 18 participating LAs to share learning between each other.
Offers and Requests - Shared Learning
As part of the PIP, we are keen that local authorities share their experiences of commissioning and developing parenting services. We know that LAs have experience of success in developing good practice as well as challenges and areas where they would welcome some ideas about what has worked elsewhere.
This webpage is where these ideas can be shared, initially just between the LAs involved in the PIP. Ideas might also be shared more broadly, with LA agreement, as part of the PIP Resource Kit.
The particular things LAs have to offer may be very specific: e.g. a job description for a parenting expert; an audit template for mapping; or a set of principles for parental involvement.
How to use:
Offers: Please email the PIP team here providing your contact details and a brief description within the email of your 'Offer' of information about your local successes.
Requests: Please email the PIP team here again providing your contact details and a brief description within the email of your 'Request' for information on particular issues from colleagues elsewhere.
If you are happy for a full copy of your 'offer' to be uploaded onto this page (for anyone to view) please also attach the document to the email and send it through to us. Alternatively, if you prefer, we can simply post a summary of your 'offer' and your contact details so that anyone interested can contact you directly to request a copy.
