This case study includes a number of examples where young people's views have been taken on board and the impact this has had on services. In one area young people have designed and delivered training for professionals to improve the quality of reviews for children in care.
Newham places a very high emphasis on the views of children and young people. It believes that they have a right to be heard and deserve to get feedback on what has been done as a result of their comments.
Newham has been successful in using a range of ways of securing children's and young people's views - they have often been innovative in doing so. The authority has also used these views to change and improve the services children and young people receive. Complaints are not treated as a lesser source of information than praise.
