The Littlehampton hub is for children and young people between the ages of 0-19 who have additional support needs or who have raised concerns. It has been commissioned to meet the needs of children, young people and their families through services that are:
- Accessed through a single conversation
- Delivered locally on a range of community sites including schools
- Accessed through a single gateway for referrals and a common assessment process
Young people and their families may be referred to the hub by schools or other local agencies. Services or families can also walk into the hub centre in Littlehampton to seek advice or support themselves.
At the heart of the hub is the multi-agency team which works together from one office. Sharing accommodation or being co-located has made it easier for service providers to work together and share information about families.
Outcomes
The project is still in its initial phases but early perceptions are:
- Improved accessibility for children, young people and their families
- Improved outcomes for children and young people
- Multiple agency cultures are being brought together
