This document provides a summary of the DfES effective practice
case studies on commissioning. Better commissioning and market management in
children's services is at the heart of DfES plans to improve the
delivery of services to
children, young people and their families.
In order to provide children's trusts with further guidance in this area, we reviewed more than 60 DfES case studies detailing the experiences of local areas, as well as other evidence, to help identify the common commissioning and market management factors that promote better outcomes for children, young people and families.
