In these case studies local authorities, and other organisations responsible for implementing targeted youth support (TYS), share emerging practice around developing a locally owned case for change.

The case studies detail the challenges faced, the actions taken and the resulting impact, and offer some implementation tips for the following areas:

  • Involving vulnerable young people, their families, carers and communities

  • Understanding the needs of vulnerable young people and of current service provision

  • Developing clear, shared goals and a comprehensive plan for service reform

Their purpose is to give you a taste of the different practices as they emerge, as well as the opportunity to find out more about issues relevant to you and your authority.

To help you select the case study most appropriate to your needs, we have provided some detail of the contents here:

  • London Borough of Enfield - engaging the voluntary sector allows for quick and effective access to hard-to-reach, vulnerable young people

  • London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham - young disabled people shape local service provision

  • London Borough of Southwark - increasing the influence of voluntary and community groups

  • Wiltshire County Council - young assessors improve services

  • Wiltshire County Council - young person's voice is heard all over Wiltshire
