Developing Commissioning of Services for Looked-After Children

This report summarises the work of the DfES Looked-After Children Taskforce.  It is intended to assist local authorities or independent fostering providers improve the planning and commissioning placements for Looked-After Children.

The report's findings are based on a series of pilot workshops held across authorities and regions that were facilitated by the Looked After Children Taskforce. It includes useful references and illustrations, aimed at helping local authorities and their partner agencies develop and deliver commissioning strategies for placements and services for children who need to be away from home. These children include looked-after children and children with special educational needs and disabilities who are in out of authority placements.
