This report summarises the work of the DfES Looked-After Children
Taskforce. It is intended to assist local authorities or independent
fostering providers improve the planning and commissioning placements for
Looked-After Children.
The report's findings are based on a series of pilot workshops held across
authorities and regions that were facilitated by the Looked After Children
Taskforce. It includes useful references and illustrations, aimed at helping
local authorities and their partner agencies develop and deliver commissioning
strategies for placements and services for children who need to be away from
home. These children include looked-after children and children with
special educational needs and disabilities who are in out of authority
placements.
