Developing a Decision Point 2 straw model

Provider Training and Development Agency
Topics Targeted youth support
Type Information and guidance
Date May 2006

The straw model provides a structure to work collected data and the final presentation against and helps focus work during the Discover and Deepen stages of the change process and builds confidence in a good result.

It is important to form an early view of what Decision Point 2 (DP2) will look like, and work backwards from this view. This ensures that all Discover and Deepen work contributes directly to the senior management decision point. The straw model provides a streamlined and focused storyboard that guides the production of compelling data from the outset. This means it is clear what needs to be done and what needs to be collected upfront and ensures no wasted time or effort.

Preparing this early view of the final DP2 output will also help clarify the precise questions that the team would like answers to. Accordingly, focused interviews, young people's engagement activities and multi-agency workshop designs are customised to reflect the specifics of local area context.
