The content of the Decision Point 2 (DP2) presentation is largely a body of evidence that reflects the 'truth about today' the reality of the situation around services and support for young people in a local area.
This centres around three key areas the needs of young people, service delivery and multi-agency working. The DP2 presentation then synthesises the findings into a number of important themes that are recommendations for focus during the Develop and Deliver stages of the change process. These findings are presented as a number of critical questions (usually between five and ten).
The objective of DP2 is for senior managers to decide on the priority critical questions and commit resource to work on them during the next stages of the change process.
The success of the DP2 presentation partly depends on preparing individual stakeholders beforehand. Pre-presents are an important part of this preparation, to ensure key messages are understood and that potential objections are heard and tackled in advance of the decision-making session.
Before holding a DP2 presentation you should ensure that:
- The key participants have confirmed they will be there
- All participants have been pre-briefed, and understand what is the decision
they're being asked to make
- The presentation has an analytical rigour at agreed level and is ideally validated by an analytical team
