Extended schools: Access to Opportunities and Services for All (the extended schools 'prospectus'), outlined the core parenting support offer. It comprises:

  • On-site transition information sessions for parents of children starting primary school, and moving on to secondary school

  • On-site information about the advice and support available to parents through local services and national helplines and websites

  • Access to parenting groups

  • Access to more specialised support for parents who want and would benefit from it

This new DfES booklet on parenting support, which is aimed at schools, provides more detailed information about each aspect of the core offer, important contextual information about local services for parents, and details of useful sources of information for schools and parents.
