Multi-agency Working to Support Pregnant Teenagers

Provider DCSF
Topics Teenage pregnancy
Type Information and guidance
Date April 2007

This new midwifery guide highlights effective practice on issues of confidentiality and sharing information about individual teenage mothers with other agencies. The aim is to improve outcomes for pregnant teenagers and new teenage parents by supporting multi-agency working.

It builds on the guide 'Teenage Parents: who cares?', suggesting some straightforward mechanisms for the sharing of information between maternity services and other agencies, such as Connexions.

The guide also provides examples of care pathways for pregnant teenagers. The guide has been jointly published by the Department for Education and Skills, the Department of Health and the Royal College of Midwives.
