This guidance is designed to help Sure Start children's centre managers, extended schools, local authorities and other children's trust partners work together to reach solutions that work best locally.
Sure Start children's centres and extended schools are universal access points for integrated services which are designed to provide children and families with the services they need. These services are either provided on site, or through referral to external providers. Services are based around the needs of the local community and are designed to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution for the governance of these settings so this guidance is intended to help partners decide the best solutions for the local area.
