The guidance document Working Together to Safeguard Children contains details about the development of local protocols on sharing information about underage sex, and emphasises the importance of supporting their development with inter-agency training.
This letter from Kevin Brennan to all Local Safeguarding Children Boards stresses the need for these local protocols to be put in place.
Background Information
Statutory guidance on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, where concerns exist that they may have been abused, is set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2006). These processes should be followed at all times.
Working Together sits within the broader framework of Every Child Matters
(ECM) and the Government's commitment to five key outcomes for every
child.
