These materials have been developed specifically for schools and young people to raise awareness of the issues surrounding forced marriage and provide information about sources of support.

The materials have been developed in consultation with schools, young people, local authorities and voluntary sector organisations, and are designed to be eye-catching and appealing to young people, with content appropriate to them.

In response to feedback, the materials are provided in several formats:

  • Two posters - one for teachers and one for young people
  • A leaflet that includes contact details of support organisations, case studies and answers to common questions
  • A business-sized card that can be taken away and kept discreetly

All the materials for young people remind them that they can talk to their teacher, and include contact details for the Forced Marriage Unit.

DCSF Ministers strongly encourage schools to use these materials in order to raise awareness of this important child protection issue and of sources of support.

If you would like to order additional hard copies of the materials, please contact Toni Vaux (01325 391271).
