The TaMHS Evidence-Based Guidance booklet aims to summarise existing knowledge about effective interventions to help children with mental health problems those who, in a school context, would broadly be described as having behavioural, social or emotional problems. It is for everyone involved in deciding which services to deliver in their TaMHS pathfinder project, including headteachers, commissioners in the local authority and primary care trust (PCT) and TMHS project managers.

The booklet is available to download from ECM Online publications (ref: DCSF-00784-2008) and hard copies can be ordered by calling 0845 60 222 60 and quoting reference 00784-2008BKT-EN.

Please note
The guidance booklet is intended to present an overview for senior managers to refer to when planning and developing services whether at children's trust or individual school level. It is not intended to help practitioners identify which children have additional needs in this area, nor to help practitioners decide what intervention is appropriate for a specific individual. It was developed as part of one of the TaMHS project key aims: to bring more practitioners with mental health expertise into schools to help school staff develop their skills and confidence in identifying and supporting children with mental health needs.
