This case study describes the multi-agency model established in two Camden primary schools to help existing schools-based practitioners work more effectively in supporting children with additional needs. The multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) work with pupils where there are concerns about a range of factors or where there has been a significant decline in one area.
The case study shows how practitioners working in schools can work more effectively together through a 'panel' approach that brings staff together on a termly basis to discuss cases and plan joint approaches. It explains:
- The composition and structure of the MDTs
- The work they carry out with children and families
- Their experience of multi-agency working
- The challenges they have faced and the solutions they have found.
