This is good practice guidance for practitioners working with people affected by adoption to assess their support needs based on the child-based model set out in the Assessment Framework. It was originally published on the DCSF website in January 2005. This edition has been revised to reflect more recent research and developments on the use of 'holding techniques' and the use of specialist, holistic, multi-disciplinary programmes.
