Adding Value aims to explore the role of adult learning in the development of extended services and to show how it can support the other services that schools are developing within their communities. It is aimed, firstly, at managers and coordinators supporting the development of extended services.
Managers and coordinators in adult learning and family learning services who wish to work in partnership with schools will also find the publication useful, as will local authority officers supporting the development of extended services in the community. Adding Value includes a number of in-depth case studies.
Adult learning raises the confidence of adults and develops skills across the whole spectrum of learning, from literacy, language and numeracy to vocational areas, and from personal development to community development. It therefore impacts positively on the life chances of children and their families.
