This toolkit provides guidance for the recruitment, selection, training and support of volunteers.
Suitable for use in any organisation which uses, or plans to use,
volunteers, it acts as a starting point for thinking, planning and setting
up a volunteer structure.
It is divided into two parts and can be adapted to suit particular needs.
Part 1 is a staff guidance section which looks at various topics, such as:
establishing the need for volunteers; policies and procedures; the recruitment
and selection process; the welcome process, and managing volunteers. It
also includes sources of information and useful contacts.
Part 2 is a CDROM containing the forms, sample letters and templates that an
organisation needs to get them started.
The toolkit was piloted with organisations within Dudley Borough, including:
Dudley Council for Voluntary Service and Dudley Volunteer Bureau.
