Allegation Management Adviser Network
The DCSF introduced a national field force of Allegations Management Advisers (AMAs). The AMAs will operate from 1 April 2006 until 31 March 2008, when they will be replaced by a network of Safeguarding Advisers (also based in Government Offices).
The primary goal of the AMA network is to contribute to a safer environment for all children and young people. To achieve this they will:
- work to ensure that Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) have clear policies and procedures in place to ensure the timely and effective management of allegations across the children's workforce
- establish effective working relationships with LSCBs, local authorities (LAs), police forces and other relevant organisations
- assist LSCBs to ensure the adoption by LAs, the Police and other relevant organisations of procedures for dealing with allegations that comply with national guidance
- help to ensure that cases are dealt with effectively, without unnecessary delay, by identifying and helping to remove barriers at a strategic level
- provide differentiated support and advice to LAs, the Police and other relevant organisations, and assist with the development of appropriate guidance and training materials
- establish safe recruitment policies and practice.
The DCSF has commissioned the AMA network to create a guidance document on 'safer working practice for adults who work with children and young people' which can be viewed on this website.
